We founded Goodfact after Tali, a commercial litigation lawyer, couldn't find a tool to automate the mind-numbingly tedious work of building a manual chronology for one of her files. She was going through thousands of email threads and parsing out every single message, just to see the story buried within all those documents.

Her  "aha" moment came when all of her litigator friends, in Toronto and abroad, told her that they do exactly the same thing she was doing: build a manual chronology in Excel or Word.

Meanwhile, over in Vancouver, Thomas, a software engineer, was eager to create something meaningful. And he was, oddly, drawn to the legal industry - to the point that he read CanLII cases for fun. YCombinator's Founder Matching program brought us together, and the rest is history.
